SurfLikeAGirl.net is a new online magazine for and by girls who surf, skate, and snowboard. How to practice good etiquette in the skate park, on the slopes, or in the water? What song has pro surfer Serena Brooke recently downloaded? How should you care for stinky surf booties? SurfLikeaGirl.net has got you covered. The site includes weekly and monthly features such as interviews with pros, photo galleries, advice and shopping columns, etiquette guides, tips, and travel stories.
With the growing number of women participating in board sports, there is a demand for an online magazine that brings together girls who ride. While boys are welcome, SurfLikeaGirl.net is setting out to create a community that caters to educating female participants. Bringing women together and sharing "stoke" is what SurfLikeaGirl.net is all about.
The website was created and is run by Rebecca Heller, Stef McDonald, and Annie Walton-Teter. Heller is the author of "Surf Like a Girl" (Three Rivers Press), a book that features practical advice for girls who surf, and the forthcoming "Skater Girl: The Girl's Guide to Skateboarding" (Ulysses Press). She teamed with McDonald, a magazine and website writer and editor, and Annie Walton-Teter, a visual artist.
With photos from surf photographers such as Josh Kimball, David Pu'u and Dave Ogle, illustrations by Catherine Baumhauer, and fun, informative editorial content, SurfLikeaGirl.net is sure to catch a wave with female boarders everywhere.
